GHENT SQUARE - RULES FOR THE POOL
The following rules are for the protection and benefit of all to assure safe and sanitary operation of the pool facilities. Your cooperation will afford pleasant relaxation and recreation for everyone concerned. Parents are requested to caution their children to observe the rules and to obey the lifeguards' instructions.
1. All persons using the pool/pool area do so at their own risk. The Association assumes no responsibility for any accident or injury in connection with such use or for any loss or damage to personal property.
2. Persons using the pool/pool area agree not to hold the Community Association liable for any action of whatever nature occurring within the pool/pool area. Also, members will be responsible for the actions of their children or guests.
3. The pool is open daily (weather permitting) from 8:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. as follows:
Monday - Friday
8:30 am - 10:00 am Lap swim
10:00 am - 11:00 am Children's swim lessons
11:00 am - 5:00 pm General swim
5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Swim team and Family swim (½ pool each)
7:00 pm - 8:30 pm Family swim and Lap swim (½ pool each)
Tues-Wed-Thur
7:30 am - 8:30 am Early Bird Adult Lap Swim
Saturday - Sunday
8:30 am - 10:00 am Lap swim
10:00 am - 5:00 pm General swim
5:00 pm - 8:30 pm Family swim/Lap swim (½ pool each)
4. The baby pool is open daily (weather permitting) from 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM. Children using the baby pool must be under constant supervision by a responsible person (age 14 and over). Diaper accidents will result in a $100 fine.
5. At all times, children under age ten (10) must be supervised by a responsible person age fourteen (14) or over. The hours between 5:00 pm and closing are designated "Family Hours". No person under the age of fourteen (14) may be at the pool/pool area after 5:00 pm unless accompanied by a parent or designated adult who is actively supervising the child(ren). Swim team members may remain at the pool from 5-7:00 pm (normal swim team practice hours) at the direction of the coaching staff. Children under ten (10) may be asked to pass a swimming test administered by the lifeguard.
6. During lap swim, no unattended children are allowed in the pool area.
a) Lap swimmers are not required, but are encouraged, to share lanes. Ask before jumping into an occupied lane.
b) Lap swimmers are allowed twenty (20) minutes per lane. When someone is waiting, the first swimmer in the pool is the first swimmer out of the pool.
7. There will be a daily Adult Swim for fifteen (15) minutes on the hour. At the discretion of the Senior Lifeguard, and based on occupancy, this Adult Swim time may be waived.
8. Any person in violation of pool rules may be directed to leave the pool area at the lifeguard’s discretion. Any persons consistently abusing the pool rules may have their pool privileges revoked.
9. Admission to the pool/pool area shall be refused to all persons having colds, coughs, inflamed eyes, infections, open sores, or wearing bandages.
10. All persons shall obey the instructions of the lifeguards. No person shall use the pool/pool area unless it is officially open and a lifeguard is on duty.
11. All persons using the pool/pool area must sign in at the pool desk. All persons must stay clear of the lifeguard stations and are not permitted to loiter at the check-in desk.
12. All persons must take a cleansing shower before entering the pool.
13. All persons unable to demonstrate, to the lifeguards, their ability to swim are NOT permitted in the deep water.
14. Children who cannot swim, as determined by the lifeguards, must be accompanied by an adult in proper swim attire while in the pool/pool area. Flotation devices may be used but an adult in proper swim attire MUST be, at least, on the side of the pool observing the child. Children in diapers are NOT allowed in the large pool, unless they are wearing a product similar to “swim diapers”. A $100 fee will be charged to the member or affiliate member if that member, affiliate member, or their guest causes the pool to be closed for sanitary reasons.
15. All refuse must be placed in marked containers. Members are urged to keep the pool/pool area and shower rooms clean.
16. No running, pushing, ducking, rough play, profanity, or standing/sitting on another's shoulders will be permitted in the pool/pool area.
17. The following are NOT permitted in the pool/pool area:
(a) Smoking or use of any tobacco products; (b) Chewing gum; (c) Pets; (d) Intoxicated persons – violation of this rule will be reported to the Board of Directors for review, (e) Squirt guns/rifles; (f) Glass containers; (g) Rollerblades & skateboards.
18. Leaning or climbing on the lap lanes is NOT permitted.
19. The use of kick-boards, tubes, water wings, balls, rafts, etc., may be permitted at the lifeguard’s discretion on the basis of the size and the character of the crowd. All play equipment and other equipment will be regulated by the lifeguards. Objects may not be thrown to disturb or endanger others.
20. Spouting of water and similar non-hygienic actions are NOT permitted in the pool/pool area.
21. The telephone at the pool may be used for emergency calls or for personal calls lasting no longer than one minute.
22. Radios and other audio equipment are permitted only when used with individual ear phones.
23. Guest Policy: Homeowners may bring a MAXIMUM of two (2) guests/day. All guests must be signed-in by an adult homeowner or affiliate member unless previously arranged with the pool manager. Guests may NOT be left at the pool/pool area unescorted, except by pre-arrangement, with the Office or the pool manager. Affiliate members should refer to their membership rules for greater detail on the Guest Policy. Any exceptions to the above policy need to be cleared through the Association Office.
24. Any persons using the grill are responsible for using it properly and safely. Each owner assumes full responsibility for grill use. Use of the grill will be on a first come, first served basis. When finished using the grill, each user must turn off the gas. Failure to use the grill properly may result in lost privileges.
25. Pool parties must be arranged with the Association Manager. For additional information, please refer to the rental rules and regulations.
26. When at pool side, all are encouraged to keep lotion off the webbing of the chairs and lounges by placing towels on the furniture.
